FAST FORWARD

Pause Fest is an independent, industry-driven movement with a mission to bring diverse intelligence together to fuel the next generation forward.

We spent nine years engineering the community of champions to create the global stage for them. We’ve been described as 'Innovation Capital', 'Octoberfest for business' and 'Woodstock for digital natives’.

DESIGNED FOR PROGRESS

Pause Fest was built on a set of values that have stood firm for a decade, but our programming evolves each year as we keep apace with the industry’s trends and needs. We’ve created a culture for the brightest of creators and innovators to come together and share their projects, knowledge, passions and insights – openly, freely and generously for the benefit of the entire community.

Every experience you have is a raw material to create with. We believe that creativity was, is and will be the future of any business; because creativity is innovation, connecting different experiences into a new one. We firmly believe that everyone is creative - it’s a skill that can be learned. Pause Fest provides an environment in which you can learn how to be more innovative and then apply those learnings to your everyday business, no matter the industry you’re in.

You should pause to learn, network and grow.

CELEBRATING 10 YEARS OF AUSTRALIAN INNOVATION

Ten years ago, Pause Fest launched as a small creative event in Melbourne. Today, we’re the world’s leading festival for business and creativity.

Over the years, we’ve bagged numerous global awards, including the well-respected RedDot Design Award for our interactive magazine and Motion Response initiative that celebrates collaboration, and pushes the creativity to the very edge.

We’re also proud that our passion for driving progress in the industry has inspired the launch of a couple of international festivals. We were invited to Croatia and Abu Dhabi to curate a portion of their events and have thrown national meetups as well as executive retreats. And last year we engaged with the regional Victoria centres. Canva, Zero Latency, AKQA, For the People, Girls in Tech Australia and many more have launched their businesses at Pause Fest. Tesla showcased its first Model S in here with us, and Dropbox introduced its Paper product to the Australian audiences.

We invited HyperloopTT to start conversations around fast transportation between Sydney and Melbourne in 2017, and we helped to connect the Victorian StateGov with SXSW, where they are now running the Australia House among other initiatives.

All in the effort to be the catalyst for leaders and communities around Australia to think big, engage, develop meaningful connections and conversations as well as inspire others.

Our next chapter will be about how we can build the capacity for the next generation of entrepreneurs to succeed and crack important societal problems.

DIVERSITY, ACCESSIBILITY
AND INCLUSION (DAI)

For us, DAI isn’t optional. It’s essential. Pause Fest is built on diversity. It’s been in our DNA since day dot, and we are proudly championing 50/50 speaker gender diversity. Our attendees reflect the same ratio. When looking for speakers or attracting attendees our stand is united. The Pause Fest community is a safe and welcoming environment for anyone to engage. Our Code of Conduct applies to anyone attending our events.

WHY YOU
NEED TO PAUSE

Apple consumed Kodak
Borders missed eBooks
Travel agents didn’t foresee online booking
Banks missed digital currency
Netflix devoured Blockbuster
Uber ate the taxi industry
Dick Smith wasn't ready for Kogan
Hotels weren’t ready for Airbnb
