Interactive Installation
Commissioned by Fed Square’s Creative Program and co-produced for Pause Festival 2015 at Fed Square, Melbourne

Featuring over 100 LIFX smart bulbs, the LIFX installation in the Fracture Gallery highlights the blending of technology with art. Come visit the gallery at the Fed Square Atrium, to interact with a sea of bulbs creating a kaleidoscope of luminescence.   Well written code allows access to all sorts of interaction, and this is the case with the incredibly versatile LIFX bulb.   You can conduct the bulbs with a IPAD kiosk, a twitter message, or even through your physical movements being tracked by infrared depth camera.

LIFX bulbs have built in features such as strobe, candle flicker, and music visualiser, which matches colours to your music, but you’d be mistaken to think these are just for fun. LIFX bulbs can also help save lives by syncing with Nest Protect smoke alarms to alert you of a fire, ideal for the hearing impaired. With a range of additional features in development, these light bulbs are only going to get smarter.
